Peter Humphrey
Bass
Peter joined the choir in June 2008. Born in 1943 he was schooled in Nottingham and then worked as an engineer in the electricity supply industry – operations, electrical, control, instrumentation, computers. The job became more and more esoteric, finishing in software quality management.
After so many years of not singing, Peter wanted to know whether he could, so he joined the choir to find out. He says it looks like he can (with lots of help and encouragement from his friends in the choir) and he should have started the journey 40 years earlier.
Peter is now our Webmaster, not having ducked fast enough when a volunteer was needed!
Peter says he was released from a 22-year “life sentence” in Surrey, and straight away made for the hills. His other main hobby is bell-ringing, in Tideswell of course and around the Peak District generally, with several forays a year to more distant parts. He’s also keen on theoretical astronomy and real music.
