Hope Valley College Concert
On Friday 22 May the choir joined several bands and choirs from Hope Valley College, which is in Hope village, just down the hill from Tideswell. The concert was staged in the Octagon Centre in Buxton.
The two choirs and two bands were, in order of appearance:
- Hope Valley College Big Band
- Tideswell Male Voice Choir
- Hope Valley College Choir
- Hope Valley College Wind Band
The college had arranged a concert to celebrate their 50th anniversary, and they’d chosen us to perform with them. All told, the performers numbered well over 100 and we filled the hall with our sound. No prizes are offered for counting the people in the photograph!
The evening was filled with delights. The youngsters impressed us all with their musicality and professionalism, not to mention their enthusiasm, and we seemed to bring something new to them too. At the end of the concert we were all treated to a standing ovation and were persuaded to give an encore.
The evening also saw the first formal appearance of our new Front-of-House team, resplendent in their uniforms. All who came said how professional their contribution had been, and how they’d improved the evening’s experience. Here they are, posing for the photographer:
