The choir in concert in the Hall for Cornwall last spring, a few hours after coming third in our class in the fourth Cornwall International Male Voice Choral Festival.
Tingling Spines at Hazel Grove
On 27 February we competed in the Hazel Grove Musical Festival. We were fifth to perform of the six very varied choirs entered, after which we were able to stay and listen to the last one. We sang Psalm 126, Vive l'Amour and An American Trilogy.
Tension built as the judge offered some helpful remarks to the choirs; this took several minutes, so we must all have been in some need of help! It all contributed to the sense of occasion though, and the judge certainly gave one of the best performances of the day.
Finally we heard the result. We had won! Only by one point, but still...
Everyone was generous in their congratulations, and the whole hall was full of happy, smiling faces. What a fine day!
Come and Sing
Dennis Kay, our Musical Director, is in the process of starting a major new project in Buxton. Participants in the Come and Sing project (click the button on the left) will rehearse for 26 weeks, after which they will perform to what is sure to be a capacity audience in the Buxton Opera House.
